The name "Volaris" comes from the union between the verb “volar” ("to fly") and the star Polaris, which served as a guide for sailors during their trips. Since its inception and up to 2017, Volaris flights have transported around 86 million passengers in Mexico, Central America and the United States. In this time it has become the leading low-cost airline in Mexico and one of the most popular in Latin America. Travelers looking for Volaris airline tickets will always find them at the best price.

What fleet of aircraft does Volaris have?

Volaris currently has a fleet of 76 aircraft, although it started out with only 4 aircraft. The airline has always maintained its commitment to Airbus models, among which the A319, A320 and A321 stand out.

With Volaris you can travel to 62 destinations, with 210 different routes and daily flights connecting 44 Mexican cities and 22 cities in Central America and the United States. Solo-flying children with Volaris

Thanks to the "Volaris is with you" program, any minor who must travel will be supervised by a member of the airline's staff. This service, which can be purchased both when purchasing Volaris tickets online and at the airport counter, guarantees that minors will always be accompanied. If minors are between 5 and 11 years of age, it is mandatory to purchase the "Volaris is with you" service. For those between 12 and 17 years of age, it is not, although they must be accompanied by an adult of legal age at the airport counter.

Traveling with your pet with Volaris

If your pet is a dog or cat, it can travel on Volaris flights, but no other type of animal is allowed. In order for your pet to fly with you in the cabin, it must be in a cage measuring a maximum of 17.5 x 12 x 7.5 inches (44 x 30 x 19 cm) and weighing no more than 22 lb (10 kg) with the animal inside. Keep in mind that, while dog cages can be made of fabric or plastic, if you travel with your cat the cage must always be rigid, i.e. plastic. On the other hand, if your pet exceeds this weight and size, it will fly as a checked pet in the hold of the Volaris aircraft. The maximum weight allowed is 100 lb (45 kg) including the cage, which must always be rigid and measure 62 linear in (158 cm) at the most. Do not forget to bring your pet's vaccination card with you on the day of the flight and the animal health certificate to prove that your dog or cat is fit to fly.

How to do the online check-in with Volaris

For domestic Volaris Mexico flights, you will be able to check-in between 72 hours and 1 hour before departure. On the other hand, for international flights, the check-in period to obtain your Volaris boarding pass will begin 24 hours before the departure of your flight and will be available until one hour before take-off. You can do this through the airline's website, from your cell phone or directly at the airport counters, although the latter option will incur an additional charge. Remember that you can also check-in online with Volaris through the eDreams app in the "My Trips" section.

Hand baggage allowance with Volaris

Volaris is offering different hand-baggage allowance depending on your needs. If a passenger just need to fly light Vuela Basic is ideal. With this service, you can carry one personal item (a handbag, a laptop bag or a small backpack) and book your flight with Volaris at the best price. You need to bring more luggage with you? The Vuela Classic option allows passengers to carry-on one personal item and one carry-on bag as long as it's not weighing more than 22 lb (10 kg) and not exceeding 22 x 16 x 10 in (50 x 40 x 25 cm). Be sure that all the items, you put in your luggage, are authorised to avoid issues at the security check.

Checked baggage allowance with Volaris

With Volaris' Vuela Plus option, passengers can carry two hand luggage as Vuela Classic option. Additionally, they can have a checked piece of luggage not exceeding 62 linear inches (157 cm) and 55 lbs (25 kg).
