Going to and from the airports
Flights from Chicago
With its 77 neighborhoods, Chicago is a hardworking city with a multinational essence that is passionate about sports. Chicago has celebrated many firsts over the centuries, such as producing the first steel rail road in the US, building the Alder Planetarium in 1930 as the first of its kind in the Western Hemisphere and giving rise to Gwendolyn Brooks, the first African-American Pulitzer winning woman.
As a leader in firsts, it is no wonder that Chicago's O'Hare International Airport held the title as the busiest airport in the world for almost forty years. With so much experience and five expansive terminals to explore, flights from Chicago to Miami will feel like an adventure.
Travelling to Chicago airport
O'Hare International Airport (ORD) sits comfortably to the northwest of Chicago, southwest of intersection I-90 and I-294 and directly south of Des Plaines city. To catch that flight to Miami from Chicago, ORD offers Short Term, Daily, Economy and International parking lots with valet services for your convenience.
Apart from taxis and rental cars, buses and shuttle services travel to and from ORD from the Bus and Shuttle Center on the main level of the parking garage. Another recommendation is to bike to a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Station and take the Blue Line to ORD. The free Airport Transit System (ATS) travels between terminals, parking lots, drop-off points and the PACE bus stop.
Reaching Miami
Miami is one of the most popular vacation spots in the world with something for everyone. For those sporty days, Miami offers tennis, golf and deep-sea fishing for those who can handle the ocean waves. Trails, such as the Native American and the Spanish Colonial Heritage Trail, offer great paths for walking or cycling.
With more than 2,000 alligators, the Everglades Alligator Farm is sure to please with their guided airboat tours. Cheeky monkeys can be found in Monkey Jungle, while rare animals roam the vicinity of Jungle Island. If you are an outdoor adventurer, sign up with Blue Moon Outdoor Center for kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking and much more.
Getting to the city center
Flights from Chicago to Miami can expect to land at either Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) or Miami International Airport (MIA). With four terminals, FLL is situated north of Miami and nestled between Edgewood and Melaleuca Gardens. MIA contains six terminals and is closer to Downtown Miami to the northwest.
Both airports offer taxi stands, courtesy shuttle buses from hotels and car rentals at reasonable prices. The Tri-Rail commuter train connecting West Palm Beach, Miami and Fort Lauderdale is an excellent way to travel between the airports. MIA provides access to the free Metromover train that transfers to the Metrorail which travels to noteworthy locations around Miami.
