Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, is surrounded by mountainous peaks and green foliage. The Mariscal Sucre International Airport is located 18km east of Quito and serves over 5 million passengers annually. There are a number of duty-free stores at the airport and other unique outlets offering a variety of items for sale.

There only two domestic airline carriers – LATAM and TAME Airlines – that operate flights from Quito to Cuenca with an average of two daily flights that last approximately 55 minutes.

From Terminal Quitumbe, you can reach Mariscal Sucre International Airport via the Metro bus at the old airport and catch another bus to the new airport. You can also take the Ecovia bus to Rao Coca and get another from there to the airport. However, the buses can take around three hours to get to the airport due to many stops along the way and they don't have much room for big luggage.

Coaches are faster than the buses. The Aero Servicios runs every 30 minutes throughout the day from the city center to the airport taking 90 – 100 minutes. You can also book ahead of time with one of the taxi companies.

With its varied cultural and historical attractions, it's clear why Cuenca was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. To be immersed into the city's history, visit the Iglesia Salgario, the old cathedral built in the 16th century and now serves as a museum for religious artifacts.

At the Cajas National Park, enjoy an unencumbered frolic with nature as you observe the lakes, mountains, and animals. For an overarching view of the beauty of Cuenca, access the Mirador de Turi via a staircase from the bottom of the hill with over 400 steps to climb to reach the top. Cuenca was formerly a quiet provincial city but, currently, can potentially offer an enjoyable nightlife.

Mariscal Lamar International Airport serves the city of Cuenca. The cheapest way to get to the city center is via the city buses. Route 100 connects Avenida España, the main street situated outside the airport with Gaspar Sangurima which is close to the North of Main Square.

Yellow Taxis are also available outside the terminal building at affordable fares. You can explore and reach the city center by foot within minutes. You should walk along Avenida España until you get to Avenida Huayna Capac, take a left turn there and walk to Simon Bolivar on your right. From Simon Bolivar, the Main Square is only seven blocks away.
