Flights from New York

New York City is a bustling metropolis and one of the most important cities in the world as a center for culture, arts, entertainment and finance. NYC is served by several airports with the biggest – John F. Kennedy International Airport – a major transport hub for local and international flights as well as cargo. JFK hosts more than 70 airlines and features six terminals. Another important airport serving the NYC area is LaGuardia Airport, located in Queens. It boasts modern amenities and has two runways, four terminals and around 72 airport gates. The third airport serving NYC is Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

Travelling to New York airport

The three airports are easily accessible using public transport, taxis, shuttles, shared rides, and private and rental cars. JFK is accessed by the AirTrain which is an easy way to travel from downtown Manhattan to the airport. It also serves terminals and travels around the airport free of charge. To get to LaGuardia, there are bus services operating from the center to the airport. Hop on route M60 SBS or Q70 SBS. Newark, on the other hand, is linked by AirTrain, NJ Transit Bus/Express Bus and Amtrak. To connect from one airport to another, you can use the AirTrain at JFK and Newark and the shuttle bus service at LaGuardia.

Getting to the city center

The Aeroport de Barcelona – El Prat is the main airport where flights from New York to Barcelona will touch down. It is very close to the city center so you don't have to travel far. Taxis are the easiest ways to reach downtown and are relatively inexpensive compared to other major European cities. It is also possible to leave the airport using public transport. L9 Sud is a metro line that connects El Prat to the Zona Universitaria while metropolitan buses serve central Barcelona. The R2 North Line (train) links the airport to the center as well as other towns in Catalonia.
