Houston, located in southeast Texas, is a city with a thriving art scene, filled with several museums, ballet and symphony and theaters. It is also a prominent culinary center with countless restaurants and bars. The city houses a diverse and growing international community and has been nicknamed the "Space City" due to its link with the NASA Space Center.

Being the fourth most populous city in the US, there are many airports that serve it, however, the Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport are the main ones usually used. There are direct and connecting daily flights from Houston to San Francisco with some airlines offering low budget flights.

Travelling to Houston airport

William P. Hobby Airport features modern facilities to make travel easy for travelers. There are several transport options to take you across the 11 miles between the airport and Downtown Houston. You can use a taxi or rent a car from one of the several car rental companies.

You can opt for SuperShuttle transport, but choosing a non-stop shuttle rather than riding with other passengers will get you to the airport faster. The public metro bus route 40 serves HOU from downtown locations. The airport has two parking garages located near the terminal – The Red and Blue Garage – which offer valet parking and automated parking locator systems respectively.

Reaching San Francisco

San Francisco may not be very big geographically, but it contains so many delights for visitors that there will be numerous interesting activities from which they can choose. A walk across the most famous bridge in the world, The Golden Gate Bridge, will impress you with its amazing 1.7-mile span.

You will get a chance to go back in time as far as the 19th century by riding through the city on cable cars. You can explore North Beach which isn't really a beach but a network of cafes, restaurants and shops close to Washington Square. At Union Square, you can shop from the exclusive department stores and boutiques to your heart's content.

Getting to the city center

The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is the main airport that serves the city. It is about 14 miles to the south of San Francisco. You can choose to get to the city center from the airport by train, car or shuttle. At the airport, the BART station is located at the international terminal.

You can buy tickets to reach downtown San Francisco with drop-offs near city hall and United National Plaza, Union Square, Montgomery Street and near San Francisco Bay. There are several taxi and car rental companies at the airport arrivals, you can hire a car for transport to the city center.
