Las Vegas is a pulsating city that was built out of the Mojave Desert in the state of Nevada. It is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, casinos, clubs, beautiful canyons and shopping. The city is served by the McCarran International Airport handling an average of 45.6 million passengers per year, making it the 8th busiest airport in the US. McCarran features 110 gates for airplanes spread across two terminals, serving 28 domestic and international airlines. The airport serves many popular destinations inside and outside of the US including NYC from Vegas with several daily departures from McCarran.

Travelling to Las Vegas airport

The airport is located two miles from the famous Strip and 15 miles from the city center. If driving, the airport is accessible using Tropicana, Russell Road and the I-215. By bus, take the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) using Route 108, 109, Westcliff Airport Express or Centennial Express. Passengers who are on New York flights from Las Vegas can also now take advantage of Ride Share schemes, such as Uber and Lfyt, to reach the airport. Pre-arranged, inter-city and inter-terminal shuttles are other options to get to McCarran economically, as are complimentary hotel rides.

Reaching New York

Getting to the city center

Planes that are bound for NYC may arrive at one of the five airports that serve the metropolis: John F. Kennedy International Airport, La Guardia International Airport, Newark, Teterboro and Stewart. JFK Airport has a variety of ground transportation options for travelers with plane tickets from Las Vegas: bus, subway, taxis, rental cars and limousines. By bus to Grand Central Station, the travel time is estimated at just over an hour. If taking a taxi, the journey is approximately 45-60 minutes. From La Guardia to Manhattan, it will take you approximately 20-25 minutes by car or taxi. A Newark to Manhattan journey is roughly 35-50 minutes and Stewart, 1.5-2 hours by taxi or private car.
